In 1931, Steiff made the first Mickey Mouse for Walt Disney. A partnership that continues to this day. Walt Disney appointed George Borgfeldt and Company based in New York City, to handle the licensing rights for Mickey Mouse. George Borgfeldt already represented Steiff in the USA and so Steiff became one of the first companies to be granted a license to make Mickey Mouse.
